APPLIED ART
The paintings in the Applied Art series are, in fact, portraits of still-life objects.
The product-based anatomy of the images originates in the world of design, and in their transition into painting, the figures pass through a fundamental transformation.
Their functional identity, scale, and the environment in which they appear-kind of nowhere, become a riddle.
Although the objects in the painting are not grounded in physical reality, the work deals with the synthesis between the classical aspects of composition and the metaphysical issue, where the things are charged, yet not fully understood or deciphered. Nonetheless, axonometric views, Hebrew dates, various inscriptions, an apple or its parts, and a monogram, all these hold together the construction of the painting.
The images in these works are indeed charged objects, because they contain something beyond the material or logical—an invisible thread that runs through the entire series. This component is the energy with which the objects are charged, and it helps to hang the artworks.
